What's Happened to India?

On the 2nd April 2011, the Indian Cricket Team won by 6 wickets to the runners-up of the 2007 World Cup Sri Lanka. Now, the World cup Champions and Number 1 in the ICC Test Rankings  led by their championship winning leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni are 2-0 down in the Test series against England. The later test ended in four days, a complete murder to the indian side and a disapointment for Sachin Tendulkar, who was halfway there towards his hundreth hundred.

So what did happen? Well what any India fan will tell you is that their big stars were injured, like Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir. But India can't afford to say that when people like Sachin might be leaving the squad after this tour of England. In a country with 1.2 billion people, there should be some talent, shouldn't there? Maybe get some people from the IPL and test them out. Rohit Sharma, for instance is an excellent player, maybe not in an opening pair but worth a try, especially saying that Mukkund hasn't fired for a long time (Ever since the first innings of the first test).

So really India should be able to replace their traditional players with new, or be it not so new, players from the IPL. Maybe its this tenacious attitude and criticism from the public if it were to happen that is holding India's Test team future behind.  Whatever it is India's ODI and T20 teams are going from strength to strength.

But as the Third test approaches, India's old team is coming back together. Maybe this will beat England and strike fear in the heart of other teams that India is back on top.
